The Bandwagon Got Stuck in the Mud
ByHere is a rerun of the videos addressing the fires we had around the Fourth of July as they appeared at the time of their original post, unedited. If you remember, it was no minor event.
In true DuPont political fashion, the fires were another opportunity to showcase our wonderful cooperative model with Lakewood’s fire department.
The response is set and it is to be decisive, just not prompt. At least that was the plan in July.
Larry Wilcox hopes aboard the Me Too express and speaks passionately about the numerous complaints he heard from his constituents and provides reassurances that something will be done about it.
I guess it just makes me sad that we have been hit over the head for so long now on the importance of our fire service and yet when the citizens voice legitimate concerns over fire safety and our responsibilities then nothing happens.
This is typical Larry Wilcox in action. He has to have the last word as a means to accentuate the gravity of the issue and then he falls back into line. Of course Larry mentions someone in his neighborhood shooting off the “big cannons” but what did Larry do? Did he personally make a call to the police to inform them of the breach of the DMC you assume he is sworn to uphold? No, Larry just grumbles to TV Land that he feels their pain.
Larry talked a good game but we see that now the election is over Larry is content to be the lap dog for the mayor and city administrator.
Let’s not let Penny Coffey off the hook either. I seem to remember that Penny made the pigramage from her house to Hoffman Hill to inspect the damage. What was the point to that? Take photos for the next levy lawn sign?
We also should not forget the disgusting pandering of our mayor either and her emphasis on “mutual aid” and all of its benefits. Her pantomime of how they shot foam from one direction while we shot foam from the other was great theater. Maybe the mayor can sign a deal for mutual aid regarding her duties.
Why is there never any good news about the mayor?
We have a mayor?
The Mayor is now a “proven on TV” liar, making proclamations at public meetings that are not being done.
There is no hope for her political future, she should just step aside and let someone else lead our city.
I think the mayor hopes that we all have long term memory loss. If you go back and read old minutes, she promises to take up many issues, but always at a later date, then, ignores the fact and no one holds her feet to the fire. It’s time for citizens to start attending council meetings and bring these items up. That’s the only way she will be forced to react and we will get things done that will beneft the citizens and community.
We may have a fire risk every July but at least the mayor is aggressively working on getting a dog park in town (at the moment, at least).
Priorities, anyone?
There are CERT classes (Citizens Emergency Response Team) schedule to start March 30, 2010 here in DuPont. However, the Mayor, CC, City Staff, nor the Fire Dept is promoting this. CERT could help and assist the Fire Dept in July with Prevention Classes, patrolling DuPont trails, etc. The Mayor, CC, City Staff, and the Fire Dept may have already picked their 25 friends to take these classes.
Concerned one can attend the CC meetings and speak, or suggest items etc. However, the mayor CC, and staff need to listen! (They don’t) CERT in DuPont could be a way to force this issue. Call the Fire Department and Volunteer to take the CERT Class. Pass the word and See ya there.
Let’s face it, our governing body is broken and outdated.
We need a real Mayor who makes real commitments and does not waste our time and money.
Next time you pay $25,000 to a consulting firm, hire a group who can redefine our local form of government with checks and balances.
Today, we have nothing other than a citizen vote today, which is too little, too late.
“waste our time and money”
Well said.
The gang that can’t shoot straight meets tonight to do what they want.
How can I get on the dupont payroll?
Webmaster, is that you?
