Sequalitchew Trail Closed
ByFrom the city of DuPont:
A significant slide occurred on Sequalitchew Trail on Saturday, January 16. It was caused by water overflowing a clogged culvert. The slide has removed enough of the trail area to render it unsafe to the public at this time.
The City is contacting the Department of Ecology and Department of Fish and Wildlife to determine if permits are required to make repairs to the slide area. The clogged culvert has been repaired and water is now flowing properly. The City will make repairs to the trail as soon as possible but until further notice the trail is closed to the public. The City will provide frequent updates as new information is available.
Who owned maintaining the culvert?
Perhaps it was the webmaster. Is there an adopt a trail program?
Well, it took Glacier over 14 years to give the city access to the trail, and almost a year after it opens something like this happens. I’d say Glacier is neglegent, but hey, it’s where they want to cut into the canyon anyway so why bother?
Well, I didn’t want to sound paranoid but stranger things have happened.
Don’t you love the methods of our local government?
It must have been that dang aquifer seeping into the creek.
I say drain it for good so this cannot happen again and injure someone traveling to the historic sites of Dupont.
Sounds like you work for the mine.
…or the planning department.
I will support any organization, business, or group that is bringing jobs, business, retail, or industry to our city.
I am loyal to progress.
Well, then you are in the wrong place.
Not true! The city just acquired a mound of dirt surrounded by scotch broom that they plan to build a paved trail to with plenty of parking. No market, but at least we have that!
What ever happened to the results of our $25,000 survey. Any changes? Anything being done to correct the concerns of the citizens? What a waste of our money, and then another retreat. Something needs to be done and soon!!!!!
gotta wonder about the water quality running in the creek and out to Puget Sound with this slide.
