Posh Paw Put Down
ByIt looks like DuPont is about to lose another business in the City Center’s Business District. The second in the month of July. This comes after a period of relative stability in spite of the economic times.
I have been informed, but it has not been verified, that Posh Paw will close tomorrow. This is particularly distressing since Posh Paw is the only retail business in the city.

You will be able to read more details in the Home Town Clipper in the days to come.
Is the plan unraveling?
Why doesn’t the city go to the owners of the property and renegotiate the rent to keep this from happening. Everytime a business closes that’s less revenue for the city, more threats to the citizens to raise taxes. It’s the job of the city administrator to see that this does not happen. Some things never change it seems.
This also affects growth and investment. Who will build a business in a place with so many failures? Who will build when there are so many vacancies? I agree that the city needs to prepare to get involved on some level.
I heard they are moving, not closing.
Dog Gone.
And here I thought the loathsome Rumor Mill was a thing of the past. It’s unethical to report unverified news of business closings. The Posh Paw is very much open today (Tuesday, July 20. Have you considered that some would-be customers might stay away because of your unverified and erroneous information? If a lot of people actually read your blog, your report could be enough to ruin their chances of staying open. Would it have been too hard to call the shop to ask if what you had heard was true? You should be ashamed of yourself and issue a public apology to the owners of that business for reporting unverified information. You are very smug and sanctimonious in your criticisms of others; you need to take a look at your own practices.
“I have been informed, but it has not been verified, that Posh Paw will close tomorrow.”
It appears that it was stated in the post that the information was unverified. You appear upset that there is speculation on a business closing in town yet you yourself speculate on consequences of the post ruining a business. Can you have it both ways?
The original post does state “I have been informed, but it has not been verified, that Posh Paw will close tomorrow”. A responsible blogger would have taken the time to call the business to verify the information. How much trouble could that have been? This blog is as close as we come to a timely news source for DuPont, and that makes it an important source of information. If it’s going to be nothing more than a reconstituted Rumor Mill, its value will be sorely diminished. News and opinion are worth sharing; rumor isn’t.
Unverified is unverified. Did you call the business? Are you the business? You are confusing journalism with blogging.
I’m a fan of RBS does that make me a RealDuPont tramp?
I’ve thought your response over, and have come to agree with you. Blogging doesn’t meet journalistic standards, and speculation and rumor are OK. Therefore, Real DuPont is just a blog, and not to be taken seriously.
I’m not the owner, by the way, just a customer. The Posh Paw is the only DuPont business I patronize – nothing special or worthwhile at any of the rest that can’t be had better nearby.
Since you like rumor, here’s a new one – the next tenant in that area will have a liqour license. If it’s a retail liquor store, my guess is it will join the sad list of DuPont business failures. People with military access can buy liquor at JBLM, Fred Meyer has a good selection of wines and beers, and CostCo may start selling beer and liquor in the near future. if the rumor is true, can’t say much for the marketing research involved.
If were are here to serve the military families then we can open a pawn shop, massage parlor, and a rent to own furniture business. Oh wait, we already had a payday loan center fail on the strip of tears. We need to stop worrying about what the military wants and create a community with balance of goods and services. If we fail then we might as well annex with Tillicum now.
Check the sign on DNA Computers. They are moving across the street. That would free up two spaces.
Man it would feel bad to be Jack.

Yeah, that smug bastard shared a speculation on his blog. What was he thinking?
I miss the rumor mill.
So do I. It was so fun getting the “webmaster” panties in a bunch!
maybe this is more complicated than meets the eye. As long as the sign says open, go in and shop. Why would a pet store closing be breaking news, anyway? Thats how you all are treating this.
There is nothing new here, so we’ll take anything about us.
Hey Real DP, why don’t you write a review of something else really controversial, like the perpetual crappy service you get at Farellis, or how the Dhane’s love the military dental benefits, as do all doctors in DuPont, but they are the most patronizing of them all.
Really stir the pot.
I think we already have consensus that our City Government is defunct and that Larry Wilcox is a fricken idiot. You’ve beat that dead horse.
Maybe you can speculate that Glacier NW is slowing buying off the City with small donations here and there, or allagorize the reasons that the ROA needs to change their name to DuPont Rental Home Project Authority. Or simply tell the story about the NWL homes that serve as dormatories for the SCB work staff.
Maybe take a video camera and tail some city pubic works workers for a day and see where they go and how much work they do. Or, simply interview passers by in our thriving business district and quiz their knowledge on the City’s history. Better yet, do an expose on how our soldiers are advertizing on Craig’s List personals for gay rendevous in our local hotels.
The list goes on and on and on, and we read it every time, so please keep serving it up.
Hugggzzzz to all.
Pretty comprehensive. Not much to add there.
You left the “churches” out. Motha Teresa they ain’t. Money Money Money
We don’t have churches in DuPont. We have SUVs pulling trailers with sound equipment driven buy “pastors” with a web site and CDL.
There is more skimming of military dollars in DuPont than oil in the gulf.
Let’s not forget the domestic violence we have in our community. It is real.
Maybe you should check your sources before you put out your snarkey remarks!!!!
Lighten up francis, it all looks pretty accurate to me.
I read it more as a lament. A sad realization.
Think about it, though, is any business safe with this landlord in this economy?
Breaking news is relative in a place where so little progress is measured.
DuPont the new Tillicum! Thanks to the Mayor, City Council, and City Staff.
To all you Realdupont.com naysayers out there, here is your proof as promised in the blog:

Take a hike J.!
I think somebody owes realdupont an apology.
Jack can be first up. LOL!
I doubt realdupont cares about an apology.
No apology needed here. It’s July 30 and the Posh Paw is still open, 11 days after Real DuPont said it would close.
It is official, we live in Pottersville:

Word on the street is a liquor store might be moving into the former Posh Paw location. Just what we need in town…
Or…. Just what we in Town!
Or … Just what we need in Town!
Sorry, having some Scotch. Or… Just what we/I want in Town!
Isn’t their a push to privatize? I can’t see a liquor store going into this space. My guess is that it will sit empty for a while.
Then why push two businesses out of visible retail space just to have the space sit empty? That makes no sense. But nothing in this down ever does.
I think they are willing to sacrifice Posh Paw so they don’t have to renegociate with the rest of the DuPont Station businesses. They have a monopoly on the available space so they don’t care. Have you ever seen a marketing plan for this area? How to market a development with high rent and low traffic? Just curious.
The Plan is detailed in the Dylan Song – “Maggies Farm”
Wendy Haskins (owner)-I was a little excited that maybe they were not going to pursue the eviction since it had been so long since the original action they were attempting to take. Also, they asked the computer repair guy to stay downstairs. But, after calling their management company I have learned they are going to continue with the eviction process. We feel we have a good stand in court and we will be taking our chances! See ya in court!
Good luck with your challenge. The people of DuPont need to know that this is more than what is happening with one store owner. Our whole business district is at stake. We have needed to “fast track” filling the role of community development director for well over a year. We need vision put into ACTION. Instead, we have a council who feel no concerns about cancelling a meeting so staff can take a summer vacation.
You are absolutely correct!
Most of us have had the experience: you find yourself ridding simply by a certain part of town let you know that the sign for the “Therapeutic massage Parlor” or “Asian Spa” in the spot it does not obligate a massage therapy parlor or employ a individual Asian man or women existing close by, and using your Russell-Crowe-like mind you cracked the following signal and study the sign since it had been created to become read – a naughty moment. Quickly your own brain is flooded with ideas: “Exactly how much would likely this type of situation charges me?” “What do I get?” “Is actually this outlawed?” “Are they almost all Asian?”.However , Do not concern yourself. It is economical superb and soothing. We have experienced several encounters plus it always have been completely excellent
Rabstoff, is that you writing comments here again?
