DuPont City Council Meeting – June 2009

By Mike G.

As you have probably figured out by now, I liked downloading the televised DuPont Council Meetings. I enjoyed the convenience of saving the file to my hard drive and referring to it at my leisure. It is hard to schedule a time to watch the whole meeting on TV. When it come to council hijinks, I preferred bite sized nuggets.

This month, the ability to download the city council meeting has gone away. This was a service provided by the Boys and Girls Club. Citizens are still able to watch a streaming version on a link provided, but for me, it is just not the same.

But that is me.

I do feel it is important to watch at least some portion of the council meetings to appreciate the issues at hand and how they are being addressed. But I can’t help but wonder if anyone really cares in town. The video was available to download but how many people really bothered to do it? Well, to address my own curiosity I have decided to make the video available for viewing and download here. I am not sure I will do it every month, I guess I will have to wait and see what the bandwidth meter says.

So here is the link to my copy of the City of DuPont June, 2009 televised city council meeting (Just right click to save). Maybe, if we are successful, we can get councilman Wilcox to stop saying TV Land and start saying blogosphere.

Enjoy!

  1. Year One Guy says:

I will miss your work boiling the meetings down to their essence of ineffectiveness.

  2. Ted Negget says:

Five against one things are still the same in city hall they roll their eyes and don’t listen and don’t want to do the work it might take to see where we stand just pay someone to do it, it’s not their money who cares, they don’t have to deal with us and they’ll twist it to fit their plans anyway. They the council living in a dreamland not tv land without being able to change their loser ways.Listen to Councilman Westman he was right and he is right again it won’t kill you and you might end up right for once. And please vote.

  3. HELP WANTED says:

I see please do the survey then put it with your task force info and the fire plan give it to Chief Merrit put them all in a bag floating down the river. Don’t forget.

  4. Palisade Denizen says:

Empty words, empty promises, empty ideas, empty budget.

If you look closely, the city is looking to hire a PR firm, not collect information from a survey. They want to wrap their empty ideas in a new package that will cost you $25,000.

Also, the fire union puppets on city council are trying to bring back Cumberbatch to replace Wilcox in their inner circle because they see he will probably not win re-election (voters do reside in TV Land). Cumberbatch = more taxes for empty ideas.
The council majority group could lose their majority position and have to throw out their lakewood strategy.

    VOTE FOR CHANGE!!!!!

Realdupont, please keep the video clips rolling!

  5. Concerned says:

The mayor and Deputy major should recuse themselves from any discussions with the Lakewood Fire Dept. it will all work to the advantage of their husbands. They should never have been involved in the discussions in the firtst place!!!! I am amazed that they couldn’t figure that one out.

  6. Larry Wilcox says:

OPEN LETTER TO DUPONT CITIZENS- I know its your fault citizens of Dupont we have all the answers you need or we will buy them with your money (IE} survey, task force, ect, you can’t vote NO forever. Also vote for me for more of this fine unresponsive service you demand. See you in TV LAND.

  7. Tax Payer says:

No means No. Try spelling it out…N…O. Does anyone on council understand the meaning of NO? Residents have voted three stinkin times NO. Lets see council and city staff have their salaries cut back like the rest of DuPont citizens. There is a reason why we are voting NO. You want to spend $15-25K on a PR firm to tell you what? That we’re 40% military with lots of young families trying to survive on one income, or both parents work? That half of us drive on I-5 every single day to go to work elsewhere? You shouldn’t need to pay someone to do this survey. Start doorbelling and find out for yourself. You’re going to spend $20,000 of tax payer money on a survey, then do nothing with them. That’s what you do with everything else. Roger Westman is right. There’s a cheaper and better way to reconnect with your citizens. Roger is the only council member sending out e-mail updates as to what council is doing. He’s the only one who is reaching out and listening to the people he represents. Shame on the City Administrator for not listening to his suggestions. Last I checked, he wasn’t the mayor.
